Contrary to commonly held beliefs, nerve conduction studies can give a great deal of information on a large number of neuropathies, from Diabetic to metabolic and occupational exposures

And on low back and neck pain as well as compression and entrapment neuropathies, from Carpal & Tarsal tunnel to Ulnar neuropathies

Some typical indications:

• Carpal tunnel syndrome

• Peripheral neuropathy due to diabetes or occupational / toxic exposure

• Alcoholic, metabolic or endocrine neuropathies

• Neck pain after injury or accident to rule out a C8-T1 cervical root lesion

• Low back pain after injury or accident to rule out an L5-S1 root lesion

• Sciatic nerve symptoms causing Sciatica

• Tarsal tunnel syndrome causing foot pain and numbness

• Ulnar nerve dysfunction causing hand weakness and numbness

• Industrial screening of workers in the chemical industry either as pre-employment or for evaluation of exposure

• Industrial screening of workers in the automobile or other heavy industry either as pre-employment or for evaluation of Carpal Tunnel

• Peroneal nerve dysfunction with foot drop

• Radial nerve dysfunction with wrist drop

• Brachial Plexus injury
