The Needle EMG Anatomy Atlas is an excellent resource for clinical studies and shows 52 Video Clips of the commonly tested muscles in Needle EMG (one per muscle, total about 50 minutes). There are Sixty still images with anatomical landmarks and anatomical data such as roots, innervation etc. It contains a 100+ page book, with practical input, ready to be printed. The CD media offers instantaneous access to the requested muscle data. No time consuming rewinding or fast forwarding of the video tapes!
The Atlas and Waveforms material offers a systematic approach to EMG waveform recognition. It contains 59 didactic lectures, 227 signals analyzed in a “workshop” style to aid waveform recognition & characterization of EMG signals; and 152 questions in 11 quizzes (126 live signals). The lectures discuss the physiology, pathophysiology, waveform and sound characteristics, quantification, interpretation and reporting. Workshops demonstrate many different techniques of capturing waveforms to document abnormalities. In review of quizzes, hints are offered to guide the EMGer in the right approach. In the EMG Training CD, you can adjust the gain, time-base, measure rise-time, discharge frequency, turns/amplitude, make a printout etc.. In short everything you can do on a real EMG machine. Each case history can be seen in detail next to the EMG signals. The text gives you explanations and asks you questions at the end to test your skill.
The Sensory conduction studies are demonstrated in the third CD. These are usually considered somewhat difficult due to the small amplitude of the signal recorded from these nerves. The problem may be compounded by a poor technique. The goal of this tutorial is to teach a good technique to give reliable and reproducible results. The emphasis is on electrode placement, improving signal quality and minimizing technical artifacts. This will give the clinician/technologist more confidence in assessment of the sensory nerve conduction studies.
The Motor Conductions Video shows motor setups for the Common Peroneal, Posterior Tibial, Ulnar, and Median (including midpalmar median and ulnar stimulations) nerve conductions as well as sensory setups for the Sural, Median, and Ulnar nerves. F-wave techniques are also demonstrated. Techniques for common NCSs. Temperature determination, skin preparation, electrode placement, and shock artifact compensation are also discussed.
